Recently, Texas Instruments introduced a new development tool - the eZ430 Chronos - which is the world's first development environment within a sports watch! The genius behind this is the fact that it is a development tool, not just a watch. It features an LCD display, a 3-axis accelerometer as well as an integrated pressure sensor. It is based on the CC430 wireless system-on-chip.
It can be paired wirelessly with nearby sensors such as heart rate monitors or pedometers. It also includes an eZ430 USB emulator that connects the Chronos to a PC for real-time, in-system programming and debugging. Check out the Chronos Wiki for the latest information on new projects from TI and the community.
The tool can be ordered through Texas Instruments for $49. I know many folks who have this on their Christmas wish list!!!
On the lighter side - Texas Instruments has sure come a long way since the watches introduced in 1978! Although, I still think the Starburst is pretty cool!
